The fine station building at Cockermouth is derelict on this eastward view in April 1972. It is regrettable that no use has been found for such a noble structure. The frame for the nameboard remains on the wall. The island platform building has been razed.

The Cumbria Fire and Rescue Headquarters (left) and Cockermouth fire station - built in 2002 (right) occupy the site of the station. The whole site has now been sold for redevelopment.
