WINSON GREEN GALLERY 2

Looking south from the centre of the island platform in the 1970s, the station had been renamed simply 'Winson Green' by the LMR with the crudely painted over running-in-board seen to the right.

Rather than replace the station signage the LMR 'adapted' the WR signage following the decision to remove the Soho prefix from the station name. The crude manner, in which this was done, added to the derelict feel of the station.

One of the running-in-boards was replaced with a BR Corporate 'style' one, although the font was not of the correct type.

Looking north along the down relief platform in winter of 1984 despite 12 years of closure the platforms look to be in a relatively good condition. The structure on the platform is unknown

Looking in the Wolverhampton direction during the winter of 1984 across the trackbed of the former main lines. One has to wonder what has happened to the platform edging stones that have been removed.
