Tooban Junction station looking east in 1933. The customs shed to the right of the station platform dominate the scene. The shed opened in April 1923 just after 'Partition' had been implemented (in 1922). The shed facilitated the checking of goods trains by Irish Free State customs officers. The facility closed in 1937 when the function was moved to Bridge End (where custom checks for passengers had been made since 1923).

On 11 June 1952 a short goods train from Letterkenny is seen at the eastern end of Tooban Junction station waiting to depart for Londonderry Graving Dock. At the head of the train is L&LSR locomotive number 15. Number 15 was the first of a series of Pacific type tank engines built for the company. Directly behind the engine is a Donegal Railway goods van. There were only a small number of these vans that could operate on the L&LSR system.

A view looking west at Tooban Junction station on 11 June 1952. In this view the connections that were put in at the western end of the station in 1905 can clearly be seen. These connections allowed trains from both the Buncrana (right) and the Letterkenny (left) lines to use either of the platforms at the station. Prior to 1905 Letterkenny line trains could only use the south face of the island platform and Buncrana trains the north.
