Looking west from inside the 1829 Crown Street tunnel in 1972 shortly after the station had closed as a coal depot. The Crown Street passenger station had been directly ahead.

The site of the Crown Street passenger station looking west in 1972 shortly after the coal yard had closed. The view was taken from the Smithdown Lane bridge.

To the north of Crown Street station there was a yard known as the 'agricultural yard'. The picture shows the yard looking north in the 1970s.

Looking east towards the 1849 Crown Street tunnel in the late 1970s. the 1829 tunnel portal can be seen to the left. The 1849 tunnel allowed locomotives to reach Crown Street.
