Looking north-west at Hellesdon station. Although a contractor is still on site the station building was demolished in the summer and this photo was probably taken in autumn or winter. The road bridge has now been demolished and the platform shortened at it's south end to allow for a slight realignment of the road to ease an awkward bend.

Being away from the public footpath the cattle dock is intact but heavily overgrown. Thed whitewash on the brick facing can still be seen in this view from April 2007.

This was the scene at Hellesdon station on 11 May 2018, looking north.  The slight curve in the platform can be seen, although the platform, when the station was open, extended past where the camera.  The station building stood on the line of the informal path to the left which leads to the old forecourt and the road.  The trackbed is used as Marriott’s Way cycleway and the post in the foreground is a modern waymark.

In May 2018 the support posts for the station name-board were in place at Hellesdon station.

Looking south along the platform face at Hellesdon on 11 May 2018: overgrowth had taken over again after work in past years to uncover the remains of the station. The station building stood beyond the larger tree near the name-board posts.

Visiting Hellesdon station on 29 May it was clear that volunteers had carried out a great deal of work to restore the platform in the three weeks since an earlier visit.  Small trees, weeds and creeper had been removed to reveal the facing and edge.

Having received a greant from the Heritage Lottery Fund FONCS/NRHG and Norfolk County Council started working at Hellesdon station in May 2018. Some damaging and potentially dangerous trees were removed, the platform remains were then cleared of the ivy, bushes and weeds. The platform surface was then scraped back and relaid with a hard-wearing surface to allow visitors to walk and sit. The path along the trackbed was cleared and made more accessible, a replica of the Hellesdon Station name board was reinstated onto the posts that held the original and a bench was installed on top of the platform.

Following the refurbishment of Hellesdon station a public open day was held on on the 30th June 2018. As part of the plans for the open day, FONCS/NRHG were asked to reinstate the station’s M&GN pre-cast concrete mile post back into the ground in its original position opposite the platform. The mile post had been pushed over by the demolition crew in 1973 and lay in the undergrowth. After cleaning and repainting the mile post was put back in place during the open day.
