A Hope Sidings to Widnes Hutchinson Street Yard train heads west through Widnes South Station in 1977. The train is hauled by a Class 40 which would have brought it all the way from Hope via Chinley, Northenden and Warrington Arpley. It is nearly at its journey's end as Hutchinson Street Yard was situated close to Widnes South station on the west side of Victoria Road. The waggons would be deposited at Hutchinson Street Yard from where they would be trip worked to two Widnes locations. Some of them would be taken to the Turners Asbestos Factory at Farnworth and Bold and some would go to the Blue Circle Cement works at Tanhouse Lane. Both trips would see the waggons pass through Widnes South yet again but in the other direction and taking the St Helens line, seen veering off to the right adjacent to the locomotive.
