Weymouth Junction signal box in 1921. Note the GWR 'pagoda' shelter in front of the signal box. There was a ticket collection platform at Weymouth Junction. This opened with the Portland branch and closed when Rodwell station opened on 1 June 1870. 221 was built at Nine Elms works of the LSWR to Adams’ O2 design and entered service in September 1892. It was withdrawn after a service life of nearly 61 years during August 1953 and scrapped later that year. Photo from John Mann collection
