Protection of the railway alignment was the idea behind establishing the linear park to occupy the site of the atation for several years before the construction of Phase 1 of the Midland Metro line commenced.

The linear park had been established by 1984 thus protecting the alignment for a future return to rail use, albeit light rail.

The north end of the station site in 1985 with a tarmaced pathway leading off towards Swn Village. Many such former rail sites have been treated in this way but very few have actually been returned to rail use.

Looking along, what was, the course of the Wolverhapmton platform on 5 November 2016. It is a credit to the foresight and drive of the WMPTA, latterly CENTRO, that services have resumed from Snow Hill to Wolverhampton.
