The lines to the south of Warrington Arpley including the area where the locomotive shed had been became a stabling point for diesel locomotives during the 1970s and remained so until the 1990s. In this view from October 1983 Class 40 locomotive 40 158 is seen at the stabling point. The red-brick wall in the background to the left of the locomotive marks the site of the Warrington Arpley station building.
