Several stations on the former NER system retain their tile maps, as does Tynemouth. The NER management decided in 1900 that these should be put on display at their major stations, although some appeared at more distant locations, such as Kings Cross. A particular feature of interest is the inclusion of the branch from Beverley to North Frodingham (Holderness Light Railway) which was not to be built, as an NER motor bus service was provided instead. This photograph was taken in 1976.
