Looking north along the up platform at Tynemouth in June 1969. By this date the tracks have been removed from the northern bay platforms (left) but the LNER lighting and signage is still in place. The station, which once handled huge crowds and was built on the scale of a cathedral for this purpose, is all but deserted.
