Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 locomotive number 46518 of Speke Shed is seen on shunting duties at Tanhouse Lane in 1966. The engine with two tank wagons is standing on the line that linked to the USAC and the Blue Circle cement works. In the foreground can be seen the track bed of the GC and MR Widnes Branch main line which had been lifted a year earlier.

British Railways 0-6-0 locomotive number 08 532 stands at the eastern end of Tanhouse Lane yard in 1980. The locomotive entered service with British Railways on 9 April 1959. When this view was taken it was allocated to Allerton shed.
