A view looking north from the down platform on 7 June 1956. Standing at the up platform on a local service to Omagh is GNRI 4-4-0 PP class locomotive number 71. The train had departed from Londonderry Foyle Road at 1.35pm. At the rear of the train wagons are being added for the onward journey. On the down platform a stack of parcels can be seen which would have come off a down direction train. Strabane was a busy station for parcels traffic.
