Strabane CDR station looking north-west in the Spring of 1965. The picture gives a good overview of the CDR station which had opened in 1894. Although deviod of track it had hardly changed in 40 years. In the foreground is the down platorm of the former GNRI station which had been closed completely to rail services on 15 February 1965.

The Customs & Excise Office at Strabane CDR station seen in the Spring of 1965. A customs post had been set up here in 1922 following the partition of Ireland. On the wall is a poster board of the GNRI who were a part owner of the station between 1906 and 1958. Passenger rail services had ceased to use this station on 31 December 1959 but CDR bus services continued to use it until the GNRI station closed on 15 February 1965. That is why there is a relatively recent poster displayed on the board.

The Strabane CDR station forecourt seen in the Spring of 1965. The station building can be seen to the left. The footbridge which provided a link to the former GNRI station is clearly illustrated. The former GNRI station, closed to rail services by the UTA on 15 February 1965, can be seen on the far side of the footbridge. The scene is quiet and deserted but buses were still operating to the former GNRI station at this time.

A noticeboard of the Strabane & Letterkenny Railway Company seen Strabane station in 1965. The notice had been altered to the reflect the fact that the line had been converted into a road. The Letterkenny branch railway was converted to a road at this point so that CDR buses could use the Lifford Bridge. The CDR was not wound up as a company until it ceased to operate in July 1971 when bus services were taken over by CIE.
