Station Name: ST. LUKES

To the south of St Lukes station there was a Highways depot of the Southport Corporation that was rail served with its own siding. By January 2012, the depot had passed to the successor to Southport Corporation, Sefton Borough Council, and it was still in use as a depot as shown in this view looking east from Windsor Road footbridge. It was however no longer rail served. The original depot was on both sides of the road with the siding passing through the arch seen here. St Lukes station’s Wigan line platform had been to the left of the depot on the far side of the bridge.
