ROWSLEY 2nd LOCOMOTIVE DEPOT

Crab No.42754 and Class 4MT tank No.42228 are crossing over at Rowsley South Junction before gaining access to the shed. The date is 27th June 1957 and both locomotives are relatively new to the depot. The Crab arrived in May of that year and 42228 in the month the photograph was taken. Beyond the South Junction signalbox are a couple of railway cottages on Derwent Lane which were built in 1873.
