Riccarton Junction looking north c.1905. The loco is a North British Atlantic 4-4-2 number 879 of the NBR H class. named 'Abbotsford'. Rebuilt with superheaters, they were reclassified as NBR 1 and then passed into LNER ownership and given the C11 classification. Renumbered 9879, retaining its 'Abbotsford' name, it lasted until November 1936 when it was withdrawn from Aberdeen Ferryhill shed, 61B and cut up at Cowlairs works shortly after.
