Looking northeast at Rawtenstall station in March 2008. To the left can be seen the surviving section of the former northbound platform. The building in the background was opened in 1992 and sits across the original trackbed. 76079 was built at the Horwich works of the former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in February 1957. From September 1968 it remained at Woodham's scrap yard at Barry in South Wales until July 1974 when it was purchased for restoration
