Station Name: NEWCASTLE NEW BRIDGE STREET

Picton House, a smart villa designed by the noted Newcastle architect John Dobson, predated New Bridge Street station by over 30 years and was adopted as the station building, B&T offices and accommodation for the company manager. It stood at the west side of the passenger station. This view is looking north-east, with Shieldfield flats (built c1960) in the background.
