Station Name: MIDDLETON TOWERS

The view west from the road crossing at Middleton Towers in March 2018.  The lines are in regular use by freight trains.  New sleepers can be seen stacked on the site of the exchange siding where sand traffic from a light railway or tramway was transferred onto the main line.  The tramway closed sometime between 1885 and 1905.  No evidence remains of siding or tramway.   There is no sign that a signal box once stood where the grey control box now stands.
