Station Name: LUTON BUTE STREET.
The Stephenson Locomotive Society (Midland Area) Seven Branch Lines railtour at Luton Bute Street station 14th April 1962. The loco 40646 is an ex-LMS 2P 4-4-0. Built in September 1931 at Crewe works, it was the last of the class to be withdrawn on 31.5.1962 from Bescot shed and scrapped by Cashmores of Great Bridge in September of that year. The loco is seen taking over the final leg of the railtour to Birmingham New Street. Sadly, none of these popular locos was ever preserved.
