Looking south in June 2009 across the site of Longhoughton goods sidings. The passenger station‘s site is behind the photographer. The East Coast main line was electrified in 1991. For some time the former goods yard was used by the Aln Valley Railway to store rolling stock – seen on the left -  but it has now been transferred to Alnwick Lionheart station. The AVR project entails relaying and operating the branch line from Alnwick to Alnmouth which closed to all traffic in 1968.
