On 21 July 1984 members of Trinity Railway Society from Croydon wait at Hebden Bridge for a train towards Halifax as part of a week’s railtour of North East England. They have just enjoyed a lengthy walk from Mankinholes Youth Hostel – a place well known to ramblers on the Pennine Way long distance footpath. In 2016 at least two of the party on this photograph have senior positions in the railway industry.
