Looking north towards the site of Ribble Junction in January 2012. The photographer is standing on the trackbed of the original 1882 WLR Southport and Preston line. The tree at the far right of the picture marks the site of the Ribble Junction to Middleforth Junction spur which had carried trains between Preston and Blackburn.
