RAILWAYS AT BIDSTON

[Source: Paul Wright]

Looking southwest along the GCR line at Bidston that opened in 1907 and provided a direct link from the GCR sidings to the dock system that avoided the need to reverse through Dee Junction. At the time of opening the line was carried over the River Birkett by a wooden trestle bridge. This was replaced in 1957 by a concrete structure which is shown in this picture.
