RAILWAYS AT BIDSTON

Looking west along the River Birkett from the 1957 bridge that was built by British Railways to replace a timber structure that had been built in 1907. The bridge carried a double track line that ran from the former GCR sidings, which occupied the land beyond the fence on the left of the picture, to the Birkenhead Dock system.
