Looking northeast along the trackbed of the GCR line in that ran from their sidings at Bidston to the Birkenhead Dock system in May 2011. The line opened in 1907 and allowed trains from the GCR system to run directly into the docks. Beyond the metal railings is the former Wirral Railway between Birkenhead and West Kirby. The GCR line crossed the Wirral Railway on the level.
