Class K1 2-6-0 No.62048 is seen on a southbound freight train bound for West Hartlepool on 25 February 1967. The loco was built for BR in October 1949 by the North British Locomotive Company. It was withdrawn from 51C, West Hartlepool shed, in June 1967 and cut up by Garnham, Harris & Elton of Chesterfield the following November. The unpretentious style of BR(NE) gas lamps can be seen on this platform. In the background, to the right, are the Mainsforth quarry and lime works.
