Station Name: EWOOD BRIDGE & EDENFIELD

[Source: Paul Wright & Alan Young]

The main station buildings at Ewood Bridge & Edenfield as seen on 27th May 1972. At this time the station was still open but the former southbound platform was out of use as the line had been singled in 1970. The northbound platform had become bi-directional and was served by Ramsbottom and Bury trains. The buildings at Ewood Bridge & Edenfield are clearly shown in this picture. On the platform there is a two storey building which had originally provided waiting facilities and staff accommodation as well as toilets. Adjacent to it at street level can be seen a single storey building which was the main entrance to the station. It connected down to the southbound platform via steps. It also had a footbridge connection, alongside the road bridge, that gave access to the northbound platform. The bricked up doorway that led to the footbridge is clearly shown. The footbridge itself had by this date been removed.
