Two locomotives, 30179 and 30197, were required to haul the six-coach afternoon service on Saturday 1 March 1952, the last day of public service between Portland and Easton. The last train from Melcombe Regis to Portland was the following day, but there was no Sunday service on the Easton section of the line. This pair of Adams-designed O2 class 0-4-4 tanks built by the LSWR at Nine Elms works. 30179 entered service in March 1890 and was not withdrawn until December 1959 from 70B, Feltham shed, and broken up in January 1960. 30197 entered service in 1891 and lasted until February 1953 when it was withdrawn from Dorchester shed and scrapped a month later.
