Looking north-east along the up platform of Durham station in May 2013. The functional steel and glass canopy and its unadorned supports (installed in 1972) contrast with the more elaborate glazed verandah on the opposite platform built a century earlier. Prior to 1972 the up platform’s verandah matched that on the down platform.
