44.jpg) Here we can see the new bridge put in to allow the line connecting the lower yard with the Knitsley Lane Engine Sheds and the rolling mills beneath the Hownes Gill branch. To the right can be seen track of the lower yard headshunt still in-situ. The bridges built for this line were prized by the demolition contractors because they were much newer steel structures that could be sold for re-use. The older bridges would just be cut up.
