Stn. Name: BUDLEIGH SALTERTON

A westbound train waits in the down platform at Budleigh Salterton station c. 1960s. The loco is an unidentified Ivatt Class 2, 2-6-2T built between 1946 and 1952. A development of the Stanier class 2 tanks, which in turn were a development of the Fowler tanks, all but the last ten of these 130 locos were built at Crewe, the rest built at Derby. This loco is probably near the end of its life as the number has been removed. The tank version of the Ivatt 2-6-0 locos, four have been preserved.
