Boldon Colliery in the mid 1970s looking west from the up (Sunderland-bound) platform. The staggered layout of the station can be seen, with the footbridge giving access to the down platform. The signal box can be seen in the distance close to the far end of the down platform. The lighting and signage have been installed by BR(E) since the station became unstaffed in 1969.
