Looking north-west at the main building of Boldon Colliery station in September 1970. For a few years a curve here brought main line trains past this side of the building, where there was probably a platform, and the bay window allowed the stationmaster to obtain a clear view of comings and goings; a similar window was provided at the opposite end of the building on the platform used by Sunderland – Newcastle trains.
