Station Name: BLAYDON
Blaydon Station is still open but is included for completeness

There were two sheds at Blaydon, but the first, a Newcastle & Carlisle facility, is very obscure. All that is available is a date of opening: 9.3.1835, but whether or not an actual building existed, or it was merely a servicing point of some sort, the depot's precise location and layout - and whether it might have been extended at any time - are all unknowns. Also a mystery is the date of closure, but it was well before the opening of the NER double roundhouse in 1900 which is pictured here in August 1963. That shed closed to steam 19.6.1963 and totally in April 1966.
