Chiltern Railways also operate the 'Silver Train' from a number of stations to and from London Marylebone on such departure is headed by DVT 82204. The point at which the driver is at is the location of the stations GWR water crane which can just be seen to his left.

The GWR water tower was moved from Tyseley depot and erected between the 1930 platform and the 1987 down platform and is used for the replenishment of steam specials which run from Moor Street seen on 28 February 2014.
