In the late 1960s, after the removal of the electric third rails, a DMU approaches the up platform of Benton station. The main station building and its additions can be seen on the up platform, with the waiting shed on the down platform. The BR(NE) running-in board and electric lighting were installed in the early 1960s. In the background the NER footbridge completes the view.
