GREAT VICTORIA STREET

1995 STATION

A new Belfast Great Victoria Street station opened on 30 September 1995. The main entrance to the station is on the north side of the Boyne Court bridge within the footprint of the original station but on its eastern side. The new station is concealed behind a bold glass and metal building which is not obviously that of a transport facility. To the west of the station building is the Belfast Bus/Coach station to which it is linked by a covered walkway. Access to Great Victoria Street is via a passageway that runs through the Great Northern Mall.

The station has four platforms located on the south side of the Boyne Court bridge although two of them, numbers 2 and 3, extend for a short distance to the east side. Canopies extend along the platforms affording passengers protection from the elements.

When the station opened it did not regain the ‘Enterprise’ service which continued to use Belfast Central.

In 2014 Great Victoria Street had frequent train services to Bangor, Derry/Londonderry, Larne and Portrush.
