Station Name: APPLETON

[Source: Paul Wright]

Taken in November 1985 from what was known as Bradley Passage looking north to the site of Appleton Station. The station building can be seen in its heavily modified form in the centre of the picture, it was at this time in use as a wood yard. The grey building right of centre is the Commercial Inn and just behind it can be seen a white house which was the station house. The track bed at this point appears to be very wide. The main line was double track but there were also numerous loops and sidings at this location during the lines heyday. After 1975 only a single track could be seen at this location. That line was lifted in 1982 after the line had closed as a through route in November 1981.
